I spent a few hours the other night watching How It's Made videos on YouTube. If you've never watched any, I recommend that you do. I learned that there are real people at the D'Addario string factory, doing some really mind-numbing tasks like loading strings into a spinner machine (one by one!), feeding the bronze wrap wire into the loop end, and hanging finished strings on a rack. Ridiculous, and worth a watch:
